I had a left total hip replacement performed by Mr Hutchinson in June of this year. From the preoperative consultation, right through to my six weeks postoperative appointment, Mr Hutchinson and his team explained all I was to expect and gave the very best of care. It has transformed my life, having suffered increasing debilitating pain for some considerable time, and I cannot thank him enough for all that he did for me. A true expert in his field!

I was understandably nervous of having a full right hip replacement but hardly had any choice in the matter as I was at the stage of having to use a wheelchair to leave the house. I asked to be fully unconscious for the operation, which happened, then a nurse said it was time to wake up & I immediately did with no grogginess or feeling sick. I felt great but tired. I had no pain or soreness whatsoever. I had two and a half days in hospital with excellent care and I can honestly say I felt no need for painkillers so only had them on the 1st day, then managed with ibuprofen/paracetamol. I was off crutches within a week. I felt completely recovered within 6 weeks and now, 15 weeks on I am walking as good as I did 10 years ago. The hip does let me know if I overdo it as it feels a bit like jelly but no pain.( just the muscle overworked). I can’t thank Mr Hutchinson enough for giving me back my quality of life, my confidence free from depression and free of pain from my hip and back. I would fully recommend Mr Hutchinson for surgery. He is my saviour.

Like a fool I struggled with a painful hip for five years because I didn't like the thought of major surgery but eventually my family insisted I got it sorted. My GP got me onto Mr. Hutchinson's list and arranged for the operation to be done at the Nuffield Hospital at Littleover. The whole experience was brilliant and I have to say Mr. Hutchison did a wonderful job of my hip and I have been pain free for ten years now. I have just had my ten year check up and the x-ray shows my replacement hip to be as good as the day I had it, and Mr. Hutchinson seemed very pleased and confidently expects it to be good for another fifteen years. So if you are in doubt about a hip replacement, don't be, Mr. Hutchinson will make you better than new.

Mr Hutchinson was approachable and professional. He made me feel at ease prior to my operation and on my follow up appointments. He took time, and was willing, to explain the operation he was about to perform and its risks. He was understanding and could see that I was feeling apprehensive but I had confidence in him and it was justified. A colleague had recommended Mr Hutchinson and I would certainly do the same. Thank you Mr Hutchinson for seeing me through my operations.
